Headway Oxfordshire’s Volunteer Week 2017
Headway Oxfordshire want to give a big thank you to vital volunteers during special week
HWO is marking Volunteers’ Week by celebrating the vital contribution that volunteers make to the lives of brain injury survivors. We are also using this special week, which runs from 1st-7th June, to encourage more people to help those in need.
One volunteer is Sue Doye, pictured, who has been helping at the charity for seven months.
Talking about her volunteering experience, the Botley resident said: “Headway has helped give me back the confidence I needed.
“I find this a great gateway to get back into work as I have been unemployed for several years because of a neurological condition.
“I find volunteering for Headway extremely fulfilling – the staff are very understanding and caring individuals.
“But it is the service users themselves who I find the most stimulating to interact with and motivate me to lead a full life even with my condition.
“I always leave each session feeling inspired by the staff and service users.”
We are calling on more people to volunteer and help make a difference using their free time and skills.
Our Cchief executive Jamie Miller said: “If it wasn’t for our wonderful volunteers we wouldn’t be able to provide brain injury survivors with all the activities and support they need.
“They make such a difference to the lives of survivors and their families. We can’t thank them enough.”
